ASSEMBLE Plus Long-Term Environmental Datasets | Marinevre

ASSEMBLE Plus datasets collection

The ASSEMBLE Plus (Association of European Marine Biological Laboratories Expanded) project is a consortium of 24 partners and 35 marine stations. Its two main functions are the Joint Research Activities, performing research on genomics observatories, cyrobanking, marine instrumentation, scientific diving, and functional genomics, and Transnational Access calls, for scientists to carry our research projects at the participating marine stations.

The data that are produced by all of these research activities are gathered in the ASSEMBLE Plus datasets collection.

  • The Transnational Access datasets are generally small, single experiment datasets that are part of a larger project. A good handful of these datasets and the related publications are catalogued in the ASSEMBLE Plus collection in the IMIS catalogue
  • The Joint Research Activities
    • JRA1: Genomics observatory data, which are data from the ARMS-MBON and OSD projects. The data for these are listed Access part of this MarineVRE website (ARMS-MBON and OSD).
    • JRA2: the protocols for cryopreservation of selected marine organisms are published in various places, including the Deliverables on the ASSEMBLE Plus website. Various publications and datasets linked to these protocols can also be found in the ASSEMBLE Plus datasets and publications collections.
    • JRA3: the protocols for the CRISPRCas9 system are published in various places, including the Deliverables on the ASSEMBLE Plus website. Various publications linked to these protocols can also be found in the ASSEMBLE Plus publications collections.
    • JRA4: the output of this work is a catalogue of instrumentation, which is still in development but will also be explained in a Deliverables on the ASSEMBLE Plus website.
    • JRA5: outputs from this work on photogrammetry and scientific diving can be found in the Deliverables on the ASSEMBLE Plus website.

In addition to these research data, a large range of datasets that the participating marine stations have collected over the years are also available to browse. The geographic scope of these datasets reflects the locations of the marine stations: from the North Sea around Europe to the Mediterranean, and further afield to the Antarctic and Caribbean. The themes covered by the datasets are broad: ecology and biodiversity, water composition, physical parameters, fisheries, pollution, .... A particular focus of this collection are the long-term ecosystem data series – LTEDS and LTEDS:biological – which are children of the main collection.  The datasets and publications from the marine stations can be browsed via the ASSEMBLE Plus collections in IMIS.
